geek.menu is designed to support encryption and password protection of your applications and documents.  This is supported through TrueCrypt, which is distributed with geek.menu.  When run in this mode, geek.menu and its settings are stored on the host USB drive, while your applications, their settings, and your documents remain securely encrypted by one of the most trusted encryption systems available.

While it helps to have some understanding of TrueCrypt and its options, this document should allow anyone to secure their geek.menu environment with TrueCrypt.

Once you have setup a TrueCrypt Volume and enabled TrueCrypt support within geek.menu, then you have additional options for security, such as running without TrueCrypt support on unknown computers  For more information on these options, see the Advanced Settings Topics Menu and TrueCrypt.

Please note: TrueCrypt requires administrative privileges on the computer that you are running geek.menu from.  If you are going to be regularly running geek.menu from school or work computers that are locked down and you do not have administrative privileges on these machines, this option is not for you.
